Here we see a beautiful example of Korean blue-grey pottery from centuries past. At some point it was brought to Japan, so we can safely assume that it was expropriated during the Edo period, likely 200-300 years previously. The piece was at some point broken into 6 pieces and meticulously repaired using the iconic Japanese gold joinery process known as “kintsugi.” Repairs of this caliber indicate this piece was highly prized and perceived to be of great importance. Rather large as kingtsugi pieces go; at over 18cm across it would make for a lovely display piece.
In excellent antique condition, this lovely bowl is 7.3 inches in diameter (18.4cm) and stands 3.5 inches tall (8.7cm). It comes with a recently furnished silk pouch with drawstrings.
